Part 1: God Made the First People
God’s word tells us that, in the beginning, God made the heavens and the Earth. God made the sun and moon and plants and animals and people! People are God’s most special creation. In Genesis 1:27, it says, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” God made people in his own image! The first man was named Adam and the first woman was named Eve.
Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden, a perfect place that God had made for them. The Bible says that they didn’t have any clothes on and they felt no shame. Everything was perfect just the way God made it.
Then the devil came and told Adam and Eve to eat from the tree that God had told them not to eat from. When you do something that God tells you not to do, that is called sin. Eve and Adam listened to the devil instead of listening to God and they ate the fruit. After that, they had to leave the perfect garden. Now they would have pain and sadness because they didn’t listen to God. It wasn’t good for them to be naked anymore so God made them some clothing.
Part 2: God Made You
Because the world is no longer perfect, it is important that we wear clothing, especially over the private parts. The private parts are the parts covered by a swimming suit.
When children are little, a parent or babysitter may need to help a child get dressed, use the washroom or have a bath. A doctor may need to see someone’s private parts for health reasons. These are times when it is okay for someone to see your private parts. Otherwise, the private parts need to stay private.
If anyone else asks to see your private parts or wants to show you their private parts or wants to show you pictures of naked people, you need to say, “No!” Then you need to tell your parents or a trusted adult. Your parents or a trusted adult will be able to help you and protect you. But if they don’t know that someone is asking you to do something bad, then they can’t help you. So it’s very important that you tell a trusted adult if anything like this ever happens.
In Psalms 139:13 &14, it says, “You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
God made you when you grew inside your mother! God created you just the way that he wanted you to be. He made your eyes and ears and feet and your private parts too! God made all your parts and all your parts are good. God made you special and he loves you just the way you are!
Part 3: How Babies Are Made
In the beginning, God made one man and one woman because that is his perfect plan for marriage. A man and a man can’t make a baby. A woman and a woman can’t make a baby. Only a man and woman can make a baby. When a man and a woman get married, it is good for them to be naked together and then they can make a baby.
A man has a private part that sticks out called a penis.
A woman has a hole between her legs called a vagina.
When a man and a woman get married, they can make a baby. The husband puts his penis into his wife’s vagina. Sperm goes out of the man’s penis into the woman. This is called sex.
Inside the woman are tiny, tiny eggs, just the size of a dot. When sperm combines with an egg inside the woman, a baby starts to grow.
God helps the baby grow inside the mother. When the baby is finished growing, it comes out of the mother’s vagina.
God’s plan is for marriage to be between one man and one woman. It is also okay for people to remain single and not get married if they don’t want to.
Verses to Memorize
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Psalm 139: 13-14
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Thank you, God, that you created everything. Thank you for making all my parts good. Please help me to make good choices and to follow your perfect plan for my life. Thank you for loving me! Amen.
